Pro touts the variety
offered at Eldorado Hills

There’s a closet full of holes at Eldorado Hills, one perfect for every shot you could think of. Eldorado head pro Mark Mooberry is thankful for that, and from what he’s heard, so are his golfers.

“I think it’s the tremendous variety in between the holes,” said Mark Mooberry, who’s in his sixth year at Eldorado Hills. “There are no two holes that are the same. A lot of different golf shots, a lot of different looks, elevation changes.”

That variety means many visitors to the Norfolk course can appreciate different holes for completely different reasons, walking away with a couple of favorites.

Mooberry said he understands the feeling.

“There’s a lot of favorite holes, actually,” Mooberry said. “I suppose I like hole No. 15. That is a par 3 that has water behind it and runs downhill into a real shady area.”

At 18-years-old, Eldorado offers what the grandfather courses do in maturity and strength.

“Absolutely, there are trees on the older part of the golf course that are big, and really define fairways,” Mooberry said. “This golf course can hold up against anybody.”

Having said that, he knows it needs to compete against anybody to remain an attraction. He’s hoping the variety and other factors do just that.

“I think the No. 1 thing is just having the greens real, real consistent, and we can shape the size of the fairways and make the rough change a lot,” Mooberry said. “So once again it’s just the variety.”
